Body Shop Environmental Shame
Snow today, gone tomorrow
Large parts of the country are still shrouded beneath a white blanket of snow, but here in Brighton the lovely fall of snow barely lasted a day. Who knows, maybe we have to thank our local shopkeepers, who persist in keeping their heating going full blast and their doors wide open, letting all that hot air out into the streets and contributing so generously to global warming at local level, whilst vastly increasing Brighton’s carbon footprint.
Brickbats and Bouquets
Top marks to those few shops, such as Infinity in North Road, and East, in East Street, for keeping their doors closed for the sake of the environment. A big boo to the Body Shop for the hypocrisy of proclaiming on a large banner poster inside the shop: ‘ONE PLANET, ONE CHANCE’, whilst keeping the doors always wide open. We have e-mailed them several times about this, and received only an acknowledgment of our ‘feedback’ the last time. Do they really think that members of the public are so dumb that they think a closed door must mean a closed shop? Jubilee Library – funded by Brighton Council-tax payers – has automatic doors which are apparently currently fixed in the open position.
