Opera House ‘Slashes’ Prices

World famous Glynebourne Opera House is set to cut its prices, citing poor ticket sales due to the global recession. The celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the opera festival start on 18th June. Readers may, however, be disappointed to learn that the bargain-bucket top seats have only been reduced to £500 from a staggering (I am glad I am seated as I type this) £2000 a head. You get a free dinner though. Oh, and a glass of bubbly.

Pop star/burger flipper/Conservative Councillor candidate/”I’m a Z-List Celebrity, Get Me Some Publicity Here” star David Van Day told a weepy and harrowing tale of how hid from his children following his facelift, such were the horrors beneath the bandages.

It seems a shame that Mr. Van Day did not have the same concern for millions of TV viewers who were forced to look at …. oh, you get where I’m going.

Cheap shot? Well, why not?

Most of the 22,000 tickets – made exclusively available to residents with the magic “BN” in their postcode – have sold within hours. Touts are selling them on various websites, sometimes at three times the face value. In 2002 Norman Cook held a similar event which led the city to be flooded by over 250,000 people with led to a significant damage and costs. The limit of tickets is a plan to prevent this happening again.
